There are many bus stops throughout Richmond, where residents can catch TransLink buses which have regular routes around the city. The SkyTrain also provides rapid transit to nearby cities.

Children living in Westwind attend Westwind Elementary School, located right in the neighborhood on Kingfisher Drive. This school serves children in grades Kindergarten through Grade 7, and is within walking distance of many homes. Parents can also choose to send their children to one of the Montessori schools operating within Richmond, as well as the private schools such as Richmond Christian School. Sprott Shaw College and Kwantlen Polytechic Unviersity provide higher-education options, with a huge variety of programs and fields to choose from.

Children and adults in Westwind can take advantage of Westwind Neighborhood Park. More than 13 acres of parkland here include several ball fields, a large playground and picnic areas. It's located off of Steveston Highway, and gives families plenty of opportunities to explore. Those who want a little more area can visit the Steveston Community Park, just minutes away. This 30-acre park features a water park and huge playground, as well as a fitness center, many different ball courts, a Martial Arts Centre and more. Nearby in Steveston Village, several annual events draw out folks from all over Richmond, including the annual Steveston Salmon Barbecue, where more than 1200 pounds of salmon filets are barbecued and enjoyed by the community.
