The average household income of the Township of Langley is $83,489. It's an area that entrepreneurs and business-owners find very friendly; more than 7,000 business licenses were issued in 2011 and the township boasts one of the lowest bankruptcy rates in the market area. Langley supports approximately 50,000 jobs in a huge variety of industries. Those with the highest proportion of workers include trade and manufacturing, construction, healthcare, and educational services. It's not uncommon for Brookswood residents to work in nearby cities like Vancouver, Surrey, Port Coquitlam and Maple Ridge. Some of the fastest-growing industries (between 2005 and 2012) are arts, recreation and entertainment, educational services, real estate rental and leasing, and public administration.

Shopping/Dining

Brookswood residents have a variety of shopping and dining options at their fingertips. Along Fraser Highway to the north (just minutes away), is the greatest concentration of shopping options. The Willowbrook Shopping Centre contains more than 150 stores and services, with anchor stores like Hudson's Bay, Sears, and Toys "R" Us. The mall has undergone four expansions since opening in 1979. Residents can also take advantage of the city of Langley shopping options. Under the current initiatives for Brookswood, the development of a main commercial and shopping area is planned for the 200th Street and 32nd Avenue area.

There are several excellent dining options within the neighbourhood of Brookswood, with a plethora of restaurants, diners and cafes present just minutes away along Fraser Highway. Rusty's Neighbourhood Pub is an excellent place to find delicious and casual fare, from poutine and hot wings to stuffed Yorkshire puddings. Another option is the Westcoast Grill at Hazelmere Golf and Tennis Club, where a variety of sandwiches and wraps, salads, and burgers are available. Those seeking out something a little more upscale will enjoy The Dining Room, also at the Haelmere Golf and Tennis Club. Brunch is held each Sunday, and dinners are held on weekend evenings. Delicious prime rib, sirloin steak and wild sockeye salmon are just a few of the entrees available.

Transportation

Getting around the neighbourhood is easy; the roads are laid out in a grid system like most of the surrounding neighbourhoods and cities. This makes it easy to reach surrounding neighbourhoods using just one or two streets. The Trans-Canada Highway cuts through the northern area of the township, providing access to all nearby cities, including Surrey, Coquitlam, New Westminster, Burnaby and Vancouver, making the Township of Langley popular with commuters.
 
Public transportation is provided in the form of buses operated by TransLink. The Carvolth Exchange next to the Trans-Canada Highway on 202nd Street is the largest transit hub, where residents can access the #555 service. This express bus connects Langley to Lougheed Town Centre Station in Burnaby and stops in Surrey.  

Schools

The Langley Township boasts excellent schools, and is served by the School District 35 Langley. Children in the Brookswood neighbourhood attend one of several elementary schools depending upon where they live: Belmond Elementary School, Bradshaw Elementary School, Noel Booth Elementary School or Alice Brown Elementary School. These funnel into Brookswood Secondary School or Langley Fundamental Middle Secondary School. Those seeking post-secondary institutions can take advantage of Trinity Western University, which is a private, Christian liberal arts university, or a campus of the Kwantlen Polytechnic University.

The Arts

Residents of Brookswood are in the perfect location to enjoy art from a variety of nearby cities and neighbourhoods, along with plenty of culture and history. The Canadian Museum of Flight is located at the Langley Regional Airport, and offers an in-depth look into Canada's rich aviation heritage. The Surrey Museum is just minutes away, and offers up a variety of fun exhibits and activities, including a kids museum. Those who enjoy music will appreciate the Langley Ukulele Ensemble, which is a noteworthy act based in the township.

Recreation/Sports

One of the biggest benefits of living in the Brookswood neighbourhood is the huge variety of recreational activities that are dotted throughout the area. Near the George Preston Recreation Centre, folks can take advantage of the skate park and the BMX track, perfect for those who enjoy skating and cycling. Golf enthusiasts enjoy the Brookswood Disc Golf Course at Langley Passive Park, as well as the Hazelmere Golf and Tennis Club. The Langley Rivermen BCHL hockey club calls Langley home, which is exciting to hockey followers within the township. With plenty of outdoor spaces, trails and natural areas, the Township of Langley is an excellent location for those who love to mountain bike, explore, hike and go horseback riding. A myriad of neighbourhood parks and green spaces are also available throughout the area.
