West Central is served by School District #42 Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows, which operates 18 elementary schools, five secondary schools, a community college, an adult learning centre, and a few other learning facilities in the city. A few of the elementary schools located close to West Central are Kanaka Creek Elementary and Yennadon Elementary School (located in the Kanaka Creek and Yennadon communities, respectively). Three colleges are located within the city: BCIT, Douglas College, and Sprott Shaw College.

The Arts

Visitors and residents of the West Central community can enjoy the city’s Arts Centre and Theatre for performing arts venues, the bandstand at Memorial Peace Park, and the Maple Ridge Art Gallery (located in the ACT). Maple Ridge also hosts several annual festivals and parades, including the Jazz & Blues Festival, the Caribbean Festival, and the Rogers Santa Claus Parade, always popular with families.

Recreation/Sports

Those who live in the West Central community and love the outdoors have plenty to choose from around their area and the city of Maple Ridge, including Golden Ears Provincial Park which offers residents hiking and walking trails, mountain biking, bird-watching, and more. Kanaka Creek Regional Park (located in the neighbouring community of Kanaka Creek) has hiking and walking trails, canoeing and kayaking, a boat launch, fishing, and lots more.
