Transportation/Easy Access

There are several modes of transportation within the city as well as surrounding areas; the West Coast Express commuter trains (operated by TransLink) connect the city to Vancouver and Mission, while Golden Ears Bridge connects Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows to Langley and Surrey, and Pitt River Bridge connects the city to Port Coquitlam on the west.

Schools

Children of Pitt Meadows are served by School District 42 Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows; there is one secondary school—Pitt Meadows Secondary School (P.M.S.S.)—and four elementary schools. Pitt Meadows Secondary is well-known in the area for its hockey and basketball teams, and currently has over 1,200 students enrolled (2015).

The Arts/Attractions

Visitors and residents of Pitt Meadows have a large number of historical, cultural, and outdoor activities to choose from, including Meadows Maze (an award-winning corn maze and one of the largest of the Pacific North West), Cineplex Odeon is a massive movie theatre located inside the Meadowtown Centre shopping mall, the ACT (Arts Centre & Theatre) is a cultural and live entertainment venue located in neighbouring Maple Ridge and also houses the Maple Ridge Art Gallery, and the Pitt Meadows Museum which is housed in a building that dates all the way back to 1885 and features agricultural history and pioneer artifacts and a community archives area.

Recreation/Sports

With three large rivers (Alouette, Fraser, and Pitt) crisscrossing the city, Pitt Meadows is a dream come true for outdoor lovers and adventure enthusiasts. A system of dyke trails along the rivers provide residents miles and miles of ground for hiking, biking, walking/jogging, horseback riding, and bird watching. The Pitt Addington Wildlife Management Area (once known as Grant Narrows Regional Park) is comprised of Pitt Lake, protected marshlands, and flat dykes, and residents can enjoy canoeing and kayaking, picnicking, and more. Other parks in the area include Golden Ears Provincial Park, Kanaka Creek Regional Park, and The University of British Columbia’s massive research forest, known as Malcolm Knapp.
