Central Meadows is a neighbourhood in the city of Pitt Meadows; a quiet, residential area that’s close to excellent schools, great shopping and dining venues, transportation options, and boasts gorgeous scenery of the snow-capped Golden Ears Mountains that surrounds the city.
Pitt Meadows is a quaint, yet fast-growing city nestled between the Fraser River and mountains of the Golden Ears range. With a population of a little over 18,000 residents (2014), Pitt Meadows is one of Metro Vancouver’s fastest growing areas with a 13.5% growth rate (2011) which is only behind Port Moody at 19.9% and Surrey at 18.6%. According to the 2011 Census Information Report, the city’s growth is likely the result of “significant increase in multifamily units that were built during the last Census period”.
British Columbia’s home prices are rising steadily (there was a +14% change in a 12-month period from 2014-2015), but prices have traditionally been lower in Pitt Meadows than many of the surrounding cities.

Climate/Environment
The Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge areas of British Columbia enjoy a mild, pleasant climate with temperatures averaging around 25°C in summer and 3°C in the winter months. Annual precipitation totals in the city and surrounding areas are approximately 1,700 mm.
Employment Opportunities
Central Meadows is a very small community and mainly residential; most residents commute outside the city for work and the main employment industries in Pitt Meadows are agriculture, education and healthcare services, hotel and food services, and construction.
The city’s top three employers are Meadowntown Centre shopping mall, School District 42 Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows, and agricultural employment like farming, specifically blueberry and cranberry crops. Although the city has some commercial and retail areas scattered throughout, around 86% of the city’s landmass is within British Columbia’s Agricultural Land Reserve.
Unemployment is low in Pitt Meadows, coming in at just 4.5% which is much lower than the British Columbia unemployment rate of 6.4% as of 2015.

Residents of Central Meadows are just a short car-ride away from great shopping options, including Meadowtown Centre (a fairly new shopping mall that borders with neighbouring Maple Ridge) and Meadow Vale Shopping Centre which are both within the city of Pitt Meadows. Visitors and residents can also enjoying a shopping trip to nearby Maple Ridge, where there are several malls and strip malls including Westgate Shopping Centre, Meadow Ridge Shopping Centre, Haney Place Mall, and Valley Fair Mall. The Central Meadows community is situated quite close to Lougheed Highway, where many retail stores and Meadowtown Centre are located.
There are also many excellent restaurants located within the Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge area; from sushi and steakhouses to fast food joints and pizzerias, residents have ample options for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. There four elementary schools and one award-winning secondary school in Pitt Meadows, served by School District 42 Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows. Pitt Meadows Secondary School is well-known in the area for its many sports programs, including football, basketball, soccer, volleyball, track and field, and golf.
The four elementary schools in Pitt Meadows are Davie Jones Elementary, Edith McDermott Elementary, Highland Park Elementary, and Pitt Meadows Elementary.

Residents of the Central Meadows neighbourhood are close to great cultural, historical, and other attractions like the Pitt Meadows Museum, one of the Pacific North West’s largest corn mazes at Meadows Maze, Meadows Gardens Golf Club, Blue Heron Winery, Cineplex Odeon, Pitt Meadows Golf Club, and Jungle Jac’s Playcentre for children.
Located in nearby Maple Ridge is the Arts Centre and Theatre which also houses the Maple Ridge Art Gallery, as well as the Haney House Museum, Golden Ears Provincial Park, the Malcolm Knapp Research Forest, Theatre in the Country (a local dinner theatre), and the Maple Ridge Golf Course.

For those families and individuals residing in Central Meadows, world-class golfing facilities are situated within the city as well as in neighbouring towns and communities.
