Situated in the southern area of Pitt Meadows, South Meadows is a small, residential community that lies just east of the Golden Ears Bridge, slightly southeast of Loughheed Highway, and north of the Katzie Indian Reserve.

Neighbouring communities include Central Meadows, Hammond, and North Meadows. Residents and visitors to South Meadows will enjoy a temperate climate, with summer highs averaging around 25°C and winter lows are around 3°C. Average precipitation totals are around 1,700 mm annually.

Pitt Meadows is mostly residential, with 85% of residents commuting outside of the city for work in neighbouring communities and cities like Maple Ridge, Vancouver, Surrey, and Langley. Other than agricultural employment such as blueberry and cranberry farms, main employment industries in Pitt Meadows include education, food and retail services, healthcare, and construction.

The city’s three main employers are School District 42 Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows, Meadowtown Centre shopping mall which borders with the neighbouring town of Maple Ridge, and farming.

There are several excellent shopping venues in and around Pitt Meadows; located within the city are Meadowtown Centre and Meadowvale Shopping Centre located at the corner of Loughheed Highway and Harris Road. There are also several options in neighbouring Maple Ridge, including Haney Place Mall, Valley Fair Mall, and Downtown Maple Ridge. Individual retail stores dot the length of Loughheed Highway and in the downtown area of Maple Ridge known as Haney.

Restaurants in and around the city include Firehall Bistro, Artista Pizzeria, Kisoji Japanese Kitchen, Stomping Grounds Café Bistro, the Jolly Coachman, Eagle Nation Buffet, Meadow Sushi, Akasaka Japanese Restaurant, Austin Fish House, Samz Neighbourhood Pub, Opa Souvlaki of Greece, and Swaneset Bay Resort & Country Club.


Pitt Meadows has several transportation options, including West Coast Express commuter trains that connect the city to Mission and Vancouver. The Golden Ears Bridge connects residents of Pitt Meadows to nearby Surrey and Langley, and the Pitt River Bridge connects the city to Port Coquitlam on the west side.
There is also an airport (Pitt Meadows Airport) which serves residents with local and regional flights, and is located in the southwest area of the city.


Residents of South Meadows are served by School District 42 Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows, with four elementary schools and one secondary school system in the city. Pitt Meadows Secondary School is popular for its various sports programs, especially hockey and basketball. Other sports programs at P.M.S.S. include football and lacrosse. The four elementary schools in Pitt Meadows are Davie Jones Elementary, Edith McDermott Elementary, Highland Park Elementary, and Pitt Meadows Elementary.

Located in nearby Maple Ridge is Ridge Meadows College, and situated within 45 km of Pitt Meadows are Douglas College, Langara College, the British Columbia Institute of Technology, Trinity Western University, the University of British Columbia, and the University of the Fraser Valley.

The Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge area offers lots of great things to do, including art galleries, museums, parks, and more. Visitors and residents can enjoy Meadows Maze (an award-winning corn maze and one of the largest on the Pacific North West), Cineplex Odeon, the ACT (Arts Centre and Theatre) in neighbouring Maple Ridge, the Pitt Meadows Museum, Maple Ridge Art Gallery (which is housed in the ACT), Blue Heron Winery, the Pitt Meadows Golf Club, Meadow Gardens Golf Course, and Jungle Jac’s Playcentre.

Pitt Meadows have many great parks and golf courses in the vicinity and surrounding areas. Golf courses include Golden Eagle Golf Club, Meadows Golf and Baseball Centre, Swaneset Bay Resort & Country Club, Hacker’s Haven golf course, and Maple Ridge Golf Course.

Residents can visit the many parks in and around the city, including the Pitt Addington Wildlife Management Area (formerly known as Grant Narrows Regional Park), Golden Ears Provincial Park, Malcolm Knapp Research Forest, and Kanaka Creek Regional Park. These beautiful areas lets visitors and residents enjoy hiking along the many trails, biking, horseback riding, fishing and boating, and bird watching.
