Schools

Central Port Coquitlam is served by the School District #43, and the neighborhood children attend Central Elementary and Riverside Secondary School. The middle school is Ecole Pitt River Elementary School, and there are a variety of additional educational resources in the neighborhood. The Tri-City School of Music, Amadeus School of Music, Team K University and the Young Drivers of Canada driving school are all located within the neighborhood as well.

The Arts

The Port Coquitlam Heritage and Cultural Society is an excellent resource for those living in Central Port Coquitlam. Here, residents can take advantage of the museum space, the community archives and the program and presentation space. In the museum area, visitors can enjoy a series of panels and a variety of artifacts dating back to the city's founding, and the Heritage Art Wall, which showcases a local and regional artists. The Media Stations offer various video, audio and image programs. Throughout the town, there are other options as well, such as the Broadway Bound Performing Arts Studio, which trains children in musical theater, the Second Storey Theater and the Giggle Dam Dinner Theatre.  

Recreation/Sports

There are many different options for Central Port Coquitlam residents to stay active. The PoCo Trail, along the banks of the Pitt River, offers excellent views, as well as trails for those who want to bike or hike. Horseback riding is another popular activity at the Trail, for those who enjoy it. The Carnoustie Golf Club, located near the Birchland Manor neighborhood, offers an 18-hole golf course open year round. Visitors can enjoy the driving range, practice green and six squash courts. Recreational centres are dotted throughout Port Coquitlam, offering gyms, swimming pools and weight and fitness facilities.
