Although dubbed “OK Falls,” Okanagan Falls is much more than OK. The locality is one of the most beautiful and naturally blessed regions of the Okanagan Valley. Situated to the South of Skaha Lake in British Columbia, you’ll find Mount McLellan and Peach Cliff flanking it on either side. Okanagan Falls is an outdoor person’s paradise. There are numerous trailheads and campgrounds here where you can run, play sports, or picnic with the family. This municipality offers a lot of privacy and is tucked away amidst the greenery. It makes for a perfect residence for the young and the old.
Okanagan Falls is home to amazing places, like the White Lake Grasslands Protected Area, where you’ll find lots of flora and fauna that are endemic to the region. The Vaseux Lake Bird Observatory is just a few miles away, and your kids will love a trip here. If you’re looking for family-friendly trails to run or bike on, then the Peach Cliff Hike Trail Head, Rock Oven hiking trail and McIntyre Canyon Park are excellent. For a weekend camping getaway, be sure to visit the Okanagan Falls Ohv Trails campground. Closer home, the Christie Memorial Provincial Park and Kenyon Park are perfect for an evening stroll with the kids. If museums are your cup of tea, the Okanagan Falls KVR Trestle Bridge rail museum is located at the heart of the neighbourhood. In nearby Penticton, you’ll find the Cherry Lane History museum, and in Keremeos, there’s the reputed South Similkameen Museum. Okanagan Falls is renowned for the Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory. You can take self-guided tours every day during daylight hours. There are lots of orchards and wineries around Okanagan Falls. Many of these establishments organize tours for residents during the weekends.
The Okanagan Falls Elementary School is located just a minute’s walk away from the falls. About a half hour’s drive away are the Similkameen Elementary Secondary School and Cawston Primary School. For secondary school and college, the city of Penticton is just 13 miles away and is your best bet. Penticton Secondary and the Okanagan College - Penticton Campus are great choices.
