Why you should buy a townhouse in Fleetwood?

One of the most popular subdivisions in the Fleetwood community is Fleetwood Tynehead. Townhouse complexes within this community are typically gated and offer guest suites and club house access. Other amenities include in suite laundry, a community garden, playground, and storage space. Most of the townhouses within this community also have some of the same features, including garage door openers, updated appliances, and drapes and window coverings. While some of the units are over 20 years old, others have been built within the last several years.

Buyers that are looking to purchase a townhouse in Fleetwood have several options to choose from. They can be two story units or ranch style. Those that are priced along this higher end of the spectrum are most commonly the new constructions, and they offer open concept living with stainless steel appliances and other luxuries.

Residents of Fleetwood townhouses also have access to some of the most popular attractions in the area, although Fleetwood is the least commercially developed of the six town centres in Surrey. Some of the top tourist destinations in this area include the Surrey Museum, the Honeybee Center, Fraser Downs Racetrack and Casino, and Redwood Park. The Funworld Family Play Centre, Hjorth Road Swimming Pool, and Lionel Courchene Park are also conveniently located near the homes of Fleetwood.

Health

The Care Life Fleetwood is the primary hospital serving the Fleetwood area. The Surrey Memorial Hospital is another reputed health care centre in the neighbourhood. With multiple walk-in clinics and primary care providers, Fleetwood residents have ready access to quality medical facilities. There are also specialty medical providers in the neighbourhood, offering services such as dental, ortho, chiropractic, and more. Several standard pharmacies serve Fleetwood, and a compounding pharmacy is located centrally on Fraser Highway. For more serious or urgent medical needs, residents can easily drive to Surrey Memorial Hospital, which is less than a 10-minute drive away.

Shopping

When it comes to day-to-day shopping, Fleetwood residents have everything they need at their fingertips. This suburb features two large grocery stores (Safeway and Save-on-Foods), two standalone pharmacies (Shoppers Drug Mart and Pharmasave) and two shopping centres (Fleetwood Village Shopping Centre and Evergreen Mall), in addition to specialty shops located along Fraser Highway. Moreover, Fleetwood is only 10 minutes away from Surrey’s Central City mall, home to several chain stores for a true shopping mall experience.

Restaurants

Fleetwood boasts an international array of authentic cuisine, including Noodle Island (Vietnamese), German Doner Kebab, Full Ramen, On Yuen Chinese Restaurant, Ruben’s Restaurant (Filipino), Non-Stop Pizza & Indian Curry, and Dae Ji Cutlet House (Korean). It’s also home to several chain restaurants (Denny’s, Ricky’s All Day Grill, and De Dutch) and a regular assortment of fast food stops (A&W, Tim Horton’s, McDonald’s, Starbucks, and more). There’s truly a food option for every occasion.

Recreation

Although Fleetwood is generally known for its quiet residential streets, it is also home to more than 30 parks. Some are well-suited for family play outings, like Maple Green Park, which contains several athletic fields and courts along with a memorable playground. Others offer reflective walking trails, allowing visitors to enjoy Fleetwood’s forests and observe its wildlife (Hemlock Park and Godwin Farm Biodiversity Preserve).

For indoor activities, Fleetwood residents enjoy the City of Surrey’s robust community facilities. The Surrey Sport & Leisure Complex features a host of activity options, including a weight room, fitness classes, public swimming, and public skating. Likewise, the Fleetwood Community Centre offers weight room and fitness studio access along with preschool, youth, and senior programming.

Education

School District 36 Surrey serves Fleetwood. Currently, there are several established elementary schools in the neighbourhood, including Coast Meridian, Coyote Frost Road, Walnut Road, and Woodland Park. The flagship secondary school is Fleetwood Park Secondary, located at 80th Avenue and 156th Street.

Transportation

Built along the historic Fraser Highway, Fleetwood is just minutes away from Surrey’s city centre. What’s more, 152nd Street gives direct access to White Rock and South Surrey in one direction and Vancouver’s Highway 1 in the other. There’s a reason that many commuters have chosen to make Fleetwood their home.

Public transit users also find this suburb to be convenient and well-served, with five bus routes that connect them with the broader Surrey community and also to existing SkyTrain stations. This service will be greatly enhanced in coming years as SkyTrain’s Expo Line will be extended into the Fraser Valley. The current plan is to add three new stations in Fleetwood (152nd Street, 160th Street, and 166th Street), which will bolster the already strong appeal of this beautiful neighbourhood.
