Buy Condo In Willoughby Heights

Employment

As a growing community, Langley Township is a hot market for job seekers. While many people find employment in the retail sector, Langley also has numerous opportunities in manufacturing, construction, transportation, health care, and educational services. This growth is particularly seen in Willoughby Heights, with local infrastructure paving the way for new commercial and business properties around the new 216th Street interchange.

That said, a lot of Willoughby residents commute elsewhere in Greater Vancouver for work. Since it’s built right next to Highway 1, drivers have ready access to the highway, whether they want to go west towards Vancouver or head east to Abbotsford. And with the Carvolth Exchange Park and Ride, this easy commuter is available to drivers and public transportation riders alike.

Recreation & Sports

Langley residents of all ages have ready access to athletic and recreational opportunities. If you have school-age kids, you’ll appreciate the diverse array of youth sports leagues available (including ice hockey, baseball, football, and basketball).

There are also several community centres – including the Willoughby Community Centre – which provide everything from group fitness classes to weight room access to pick-up sports. If you’re looking to work out on your own, this local facility also features a fitness studio and a walking track so you can do things at your own pace.

For those who prefer to be active out-of-doors, Langley Township provides numerous walking and cycling trails. Willoughby residents especially love Fort Langley and Derby Reach’s riverside paths that provide access to the Fraser River as well as breathtaking views of the Golden Ears and Mount Baker.

Shopping & Dining

The newly developed and still-growing Willoughby Town Centre is centrally located to serve Willoughby Heights residents. It meets day-to-day needs with staples like Hakam’s Your Independent Grocer and Shopper’s Drug Mart while also including boutique shops and spa services.

For shoppers looking to enjoy the classic mall experience, the Willowbrook Shopping Centre is just minutes down the road and offers everything from The Bay to Sport Chek to Toys ‘R’ Us. It also boasts a diverse food court you can sample flavours from across the globe.

Willoughby residents have a variety of fast food options at their fingertips, from sushi to burgers to pizza and more. Those looking for a seated dining experience don’t have to drive far to enjoy reputable chains like The Keg, White Spot, Earl’s, and Cactus Club. There are also countless ethnic restaurants in Walnut Grove, Downtown Langley, and more, offering authentic meals from Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Lebanon, and more.

Transportation

One of Willoughby’s greatest benefits is its proximity to Highway 1. A driver can choose between three exits, one of which is a devoted HOV exit for busses and carpools, leading them to the Carvolth Exchange Park and Ride. It’s no secret that Willoughby residents enjoy access to one of the simplest commutes in Greater Vancouver.

The same is true for public transit passengers who rely on TransLink’s bus routes to get to and from work. The Carvolth Exchange is Langley’s busiest bus station, carrying passengers either west to Surrey, Burnaby, and Vancouver or east to Abbotsford and Chilliwack. Local riders use community service buses that run through Fort Langley, Walnut Grove, and downtown Langley. Willoughby is a central hub in Langley’s bus service and connection to other Lower Mainland suburbs.

Schools

Willoughby Heights’s public schools are administered by Langley School District #35. It has two elementary campuses (Willoughby and Lynn Fripps), one middle school campus (Yorkson Creek), and one secondary campus (R.E. Mountain Secondary School). All are either newly built or renovated to handle the massive growth that Willoughby has experienced in recent years.

There are several options for post-secondary students, too. Local institutions Kwantlen Polytechnic University (in downtown Langley) and Trinity Western University (on Willoughby’s eastern border) are easily accessible through public transit and Willoughby’s main feeder routes. Beyond that, students can also easily reach the University of Fraser Valley (in Abbotsford) and Simon Fraser University’s Surrey campus (adjacent to Surrey’s Central City shopping district).

The Arts

The Township of Langley is home to several museums that celebrate local culture. The Langley Centennial Museum, located near the historic Fort Langley, depicts the area’s origins, features revolving art and photography displays, and routinely offers youth programs. It sits next door to the BC Farm Museum, which goes in-depth into the agricultural beginnings of Langley and includes a massive barn full of old barn equipment. And at the Langley Airport, the Museum of Flight gives patrons a glance into the history of flight, both locally and abroad.

Langley also has a thriving artistic community, which often presents creative work in cozy, intimate settings. The Fort Gallery is a quaint space that highlights local artists who collaboratively prepare different exhibits. In downtown Langley, the BEZ Arts Hub combines a music and dance venue with a bustling array of classes that equip all ages to further their creative dreams.

Investing in Willoughby Heights Real Estate

With affordable housing prices and a vibrant, growing culture, Willoughby Heights is an obvious target for homebuyers. Residents young and old value their access to state-of-the-art amenities, convenient transportation, and quiet, walkable neighbourhoods. If you’re looking to invest in real estate, Willoughby Heights should rank high on your list of targets.
