Located on the West side of the Okanagan Lake, Summerland is a beautiful town located in the Okanagan Valley’s wine country. The city celebrated its centennial year in 2006 and underwent massive infrastructure upgrades. This has made the town one of the most modern in the Valley. Summerland’s climates are quite warm, and at times, humid. Winters aren’t as cold as in the rest of the valley. This makes the town a beautiful place to reside in.
Recreation
Summerland is home to many beautiful parks that are perfect for kids to frolic in. Some of the parks in the neighbourhood are Giants Head Park, Memorial Park and Peach Orchard Beach Park. Landry Trail is another spot that is a must-visit. If you like the thought of a weekend camping expedition, be sure to visit the Peach Orchard Campsite. Heritage aficionados will be delighted to know that The Kettle Valley Steam Railway is less than four miles from Summerland. Do visit. The town is also a beach lover’s paradise, with both Gordon Beggs Rotary Beach and Powell Beach a stone’s throw away. Summerland is located in the wine country, and you have numerous wineries like the Sage Hills Estate Winery and Vineyards, Sumac Ridge Estate Winery Ltd and Summergate Winery nearby. They organize tours and tastings regularly. Museum buffs can visit the Summerland Museum and Archives Society and Potters Guild, where they organize exhibitions routinely. The reputed Summerland Library is less than half a mile from the city center, and you can find books across genres here. If you’re very health conscious, you will find the Summerland Tuesday Farmer's Market a delight. There are many sellers of organic food who sell their fares here. To keep your evenings occupied, you can visit the Summerland Theatre to see a play or enrol at the Summerland Aquatic & Fitness Centre.
Education
The town of Summerland is home to numerous schools. Some of the best institutions in the region are Summerland Montessori School, Trout Creek Elementary, Giant's Head Elementary School, Summerland Middle School, Summerland Secondary School and Unisus School. Jerry's Man Cave is the closest college in town. You can also take the bus into Penticton to attend classes at the Okanagan College - Penticton Campus.

The Summerland Health Centre is the primary medical centre in Summerland. The Summerland Dental Centre and Jubilee Dental Centre are two of the reputed dental clinics here. For veterinary treatment, you can take your pet to the Summerland Animal Clinic.
