For those in need of more options when it comes to shopping and dining, Richmond Centre is one of the largest malls in the city and is just 13 minutes away by car. This mall features all the popular mall retailers, from fashion and accessories to department stores, cafes, diners and professional services. Nearby is Lansdowne Centre and Aberdeen Centre, both offering similar options for shopping.
Hungry Terra Nova residents can enjoy delicious sandwiches and subs, Indian Cuisine and Japanese dishes just minutes away from their home. Taking Westminster Highway or River Road to Number 2 Road enables residents to reach Sea Island and the Vancouver International Airport. Throughout Richmond, TransLink buses have regular routes, so public transportation is always an option. In addition, the SkyTrains give residents the option of rapid transit to downtown Vancouver, the waterfront and other nearby cities.
Children in Terra Nova attend Spul'u'Kwuks Elementary School, which feeds into J.N. Burnett Secondary. There are a variety of private and religious-based schools in Richmond for parents who desire an alternative to public school. Sprott Shaw College has a satellite location in Richmond where older students can obtain several different degree types in a variety of fields. Another option for higher-education is the Kwantlen Polytechnic University.
Richmond residents have a variety of art options at their fingertips, from live performances at the legendary Gateway Theatre to over 65 public art installations throughout the city that residents can view free. The Richmond Cultural Centre is a wonderful place to visit for excellent art and historical information and artifacts. The Richmond Art Gallery is located here, featuring an ever-changing exhibit of fine contemporary art from local artists as well as national and international artists. Visiting nearby Steveston Village is another excellent option, especially during the first and third Sundays of the month, when the Farmers and Artisans Market takes place. Here, visitors can pick up art of all kinds made by Steveston and Richmond locals.
Terra Nova residents have a variety of recreational activities and options to choose from, including the fantastic Terra Nova Adventure Play Environment. The Play Environment includes The Paddock, which features a 35m zipline, swings, a twisting slide, outdoor areas to enjoy and explore, and an exciting meadow maze for younger children. The Homestead area of the Play Environment offers up a treehouse with play equipment, a rope walkway, a climbing structure, sand area and a timber swing.
