Maple Ridge is in a very central and convenient location; less than an hour from downtown Vancouver, just 15 minutes from Coquitlam and Langley and 10 minutes from Surrey. TransLink buses run regular routes throughout the city of Maple Ridge, making it easy to utilize public transportation. Served by the Maple Ridge School District Number 42, the city has more than 15 elementary schools and 5 secondary schools that children attend. The North Maple Ridge area children attend Yennadon Elementary or Carter Equestrian Elementary, and Garibaldi Secondary School. The city’s secondary schools are revolutionary in that they feature non-traditional learning paths, such as customized learning focus and placing a priority on technology. Those who require higher learning institutes will be glad to know that Maple Ridge is home to the BCIT School of Business, Douglas College and the private Sprott Shaw College.
Maple Ridge is an art-rich area, offering up plenty of theaters, activity centres, art courses and classes and more. Those who want to take advantage of live performances can visit the Maple Ridge Art Centre and Theatre, where they can enjoy live performances and plays as well as musical acts. The Art Centre and Theatre features a couple of different options, including the proscenium style theatre. Maple Ridge, especially North Maple Ridge is a playground of gorgeous green areas and recreational spots. During summer months, the park features a security patrol and kayaks, canoes and pedal boats for rent.
