It would be hard for any wordsmith to find words that best describe Gulf Islands, BC. Everything here is simply eclectic, tempting one to stay for long and get a place to call home. Homes are charming and value priced, the locals are friendly and all social and basic amenities are within reach.
One of the most outstanding things about the neighborhood is its administration. It is in fact safe to argue that the neighborhood has reached where it is today because of how well it is administered. A federation of the local government by the name Islands Trust oversees the islands. With a mandate to preserve and protect the island and its environment for the benefit of residents and tourists, the federation is taking the neighborhood to greater heights. The broad, social mandate is a true reflection of the special place that Gulf Islands has in Canada’s central government. The island is made up of 18 major islands and about a hundred smaller island fragments.
Like so many other neighborhoods in BC, home prices here are mostly determined by the price of single family homes. As of 2010, the average home price here was $562,410, a perfect price for any first time home buyer. That same year, the average price for townhomes alone was $433,000 which is still affordable. Detached homes sell more than other homes, making the island ideal for large families.
